Thoughts from the Executive Director -- June 2017

On July 10th we will break ground to build a new group home!  You are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony!

This new home is a part of our overall strategic plan of making sure that our homes are appropriate for the needs of the individuals who live there.  When the new house is finished (sometime in October) the 4 individuals who live at our Kelly D's house will move into this new home.  We have sought input from the Kelly D's residents, as well as from the Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) who work at Kelly D's house, to help us make choices for the new house that is being built.

This has been a long process.  It started with making an assessment of each of our homes.  We determined that the layout at Kelly D's was not working for those who lived there.  Then we started planning how best to respond to that.  Building a new home made the most sense.

Once everyone has moved out of Kelly D's and into the new house, we will remodel Kelly D's House.  The ladies who currently live at our Tower Hill House will then move into the newly remodeled (and probably newly named) Kelly D's house.  Once again, we worked with the residents and DSP's at Tower Hill House to figure out what remodels make the most sense for the Tower Hill residents.  When the remodel is completed, the accessibility of the home will be much better than Tower Hill house.

Once the residents move out of Tower Hill house, our plan is to sell that property.  This is all a part of a plan we are working on that reaches out 10 years into the future.  Our goal is to replace homes that are aging, or no longer meet the needs, of the residents who live there.

These changes fit our mission statement of providing personalized community life experiences.  The changes also fit our shared value of providing homes that are inviting, safe, respectful, functional, stable and comfortable.

We invite you to join us for the groundbreaking ceremony at 3 PM on July 10th.  Contact the office for the address!

Sincerely,

Linda Driessen, Executive Director
