FULL-TIME TRAINING MENTOR

As a Program Mentor, you will work collaboratively with the Training Coordinator to analyze training needs, develop curriculum, and conduct training for all staff and volunteers working directly with residents. The role of the Mentor is to become a liaison between the training department, new employees, and their supervisors.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Education and experience to meet the requirements as a qualified professional under 245D standards as a Designated Coordinator Required.

 

  1. A baccalaureate degree in a field related to human services, and one year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older. 
  2. An associate degree in a field related to human services, and two years of full-time work providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 or older;

       3.  A diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years full-time experience providing direct care services to persons

           with disabilities or age 65 or older; 

        4. A minimum of 50 hours of proven education and training related to human services and disabilities and four years of full-time experience providing direct care to  persons

            with disabilities or person age 65 or older under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications above in 1-3.

 

Must have experience supervising Direct Support Professionals.

 

Licenses and Certifications

 

Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations governing Developmental Disabilities and brain injury programs.

 

Knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning and implementing habilitation training and activities programs for people with developmental disabilities or brain injury.

 

Knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning and implementing training and activities programs for people with disabilities.

 

Experience in the use of Person Centered strategies to promote a Person Centered Organization.

 

Experience in the implementation of positive behavioral support strategies and plans.

 

Ability to assess training needs of all staff and produce training programs and materials to target their needs.

 

Skill in planning and implementing training and activities programs for people with developmental disabilities or brain injury.

 

Ability to work effectively with adults with disabilities.

 

Ability to assess situations, exercise good judgment, and remain calm in response to routine and unexpected situations.

 

Ability to gain rapport with others quickly.

 

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

 

Ability to provide guidance and direction to staff in assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality of care.

 

Ability to utilize various forms of technology, such as computers, internet, social media, and electronic devices.
