 As a Training Coordinator you will develop, organize, and conduct organization training programs for all staff and volunteers working directly with the persons we serve.  This position evaluates the trainee for effectiveness of training and individual employee growth. The Training Coordinator will coordinate with managers and supervisors to develop specific training to meet the needs and requirements of the state and the county.


Education and/or Experience

 Education and experience to meet the requirements as a qualified professional under 245D standards as a Designated Coordinator Required.

  1. A baccalaureate degree in a field related to human services, and one year of full-time work experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 and older;
  1. An associate degree in a field related to human services, and two years of full-time work providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or persons age 65 or older;
  1. A diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited postsecondary institution and three years full-time experience providing direct care services to persons with disabilities or age 65 or older;
  1. A minimum of 50 hours of proven education and training related to human services and disabilities and four years of full-time experience providing direct care to persons with disabilities or person age 65 or older under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications above in 1-3.

Must have working knowledge of 245D and positive behavior support rule.

Must have experience supervising Direct Support Professionals.


Licenses and Certifications

Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license



Proficient understanding of the Human Services field specifically in the field of developmental disabilities.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations governing Developmental Disabilities program.

Knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning and implementing habilitation training and activities programs for people with developmental disabilities.

Knowledge of community programs and resources.

Knowledge of behavior management and techniques.

Knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization, and administration.

Skill in implementing behavior management program.

Skill in planning and implementing training and activities programs for people with developmental disabilities

Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills are necessary to produce and deliver quality training programs.

Ability to assess training needs of all staff and produce training programs and materials to target the needs.

Ability to react positively to change and development and help lead the way forward to include new development in training targeted to both new and current existing employees.

Ability to effectively direct trainees while in training class environment and ability to properly evaluate comprehension and application of subject material.

Ability to work effectively with adults with developmental disabilities and other disabilities, staff, and community members.

Ability to asses situation, exercise good judgment, and remain calm in response to routine and unexpected situations.

Ability to communicate professionally with employees, trainers from other companies, professional training group members, and consultants by phone, in person, or through correspondence.

Ability to evaluate, design, and implement quality trainings for all levels of staff.

Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
