Bear Creek Services provides monthly in-service meetings in an effort to continually provide up-to-date training for all of our direct care staff members.

Home Life:

Our staff is trained on-site and are available at the houses to assist our residents whenever they are needed.

A part of the process of having a happy home life is being able to be as physically independent as possible.

Bear Creek provides appropriate physical therapy to all residents as needed. We can assist clients with their psychological therapy programs if needed. Providing a healthy diet and lifestyle is another phase of our home life program. We provide delicious (and always nutritious!) meals to the residents in our care.

As a result of keeping everyone eating right, exercising regularly and emphasizing a supportive home environment by our direct care staff - we not only have healthy residents, but happy ones as well!

Daytime Activities:

We feel it is important for our residents, to whenever possible, go out and interact with the community as much as possible.

To accomplish this, we encourage each of our residents to work during the day. Partnering up with ABC and Possibilities, we are very successful in accomplishing this goal.

Bear Creek also provides additional employment assistance as needed, which may include giving a ride to someone who has no other mode of transportation.

Our goal is to not only have healthy residents, but happy ones as well.

Recreational Opportunities:

Depending on his or her interests, Bear Creek provides as many recreational activities as possible. Some of our group homes enjoy pie day at the Panakueken Restaurant. Others go bowling, fishing and camping, dancing, and just plain old hanging out.

In-Home Support:  Each of the group homes have at least one staff member present at all times during the day when residents are home. The direct care staff are trained and equipped with all the knowledge needed to assist our residents in their day-to-day activities.

With this training comes an understanding that all of our residents are human beings to be treated as adults with dignity.

Health Services:

Each of Bear Creek Service's homes are assigned to one of our Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to monitor and provide for individual client health care needs. The LPNs are supervised by the Health Services Director Registered Nurse. Clients are accompanied by the house nurse on medical and dental appointments for optimum coordination of health care. The nursing staff also instructs and serves as a resource for direct care staff regarding health issues.

The Bear Creek Services nursing staff is available on-call 24 hours a day to answer questions and to assure that any emergent health situation that may arise is handled in a timely manner.

Contact with parents & guardians:

A key part of the Bear Creek Program is to include parents and guardians of our residents as much as possible when planning for an individual's services. We realize that nobody understands what is needed more than our residents themselves and their guardians.

Once in a Bear Creek setting, we feel that it is very important to continue this personal relationship as well. Keeping parents and guardians involved helps to provide a better living experience at the group home, as well as providing a very big lift to both our residents and their family.

Community Education Classes:

One of the most imporant philosophies of Bear Creek Services is our beleif that all of our residents deserve the opportunity to take full advantage of any community education class or workshop that is available that may help him or her become more independant. Community education classes may include instructions on cooking, cleaning, computer use or any other variety of things.

Staff at the group homes provide transportation to community education classes and strongly encourage our residents to pick up these important life skills.
